Tapestry Learning Journals
The staff at Jack & Jill’s Pre-School have been assessing the way we record your child’s learning and development. In previous years we recorded their porgress in paper folder - adding notes & photographs where appropriate. This was shown to parents at the termly parents meetings & handed over for you to keep when your child left the pre-school. The process of creating these journals was quite time consuming & the printing of the photographs an added cost, plus you (as the parent / guardian) only had limited access to the journal during your child's time at our setting.
We value your contribution as your child’s parent / guardian as you know your child best. We have therefore chosen to move your child's learning journal on to an electronic system where you, as parents, will be able access your child’s journal at any time - adding photographs and leaving comments on observations we have made. We do appreciate that not everyone has access to the internet and this is ok as we can show you your child’s profile within the setting and any information you give us we will be more than happy to add this for you. Access is not restricted to only parents, we also value contributions from extended family too including grandparents.
In order for us to connect you with your child’s profile we do require some information from you - log in details will need to be different for each person you wish to have access your child’s profile - please email us at jack.and.jills@hotmail.co.uk to request a log-on. Your child’s profile can only be accessed by pre-school staff and those you have granted passwords to. On receipt of the relevant information a password will be emailed to you, which you will be able to change once you are signed in.
Once you have signed in, you can set up Tapestry to send you an email every time an observation has been added to your child's journal - thus saving you having to keep checking the page. If you require help to do this or with any other aspect of Tapestry, please do not hesitate to talk to a member of staff.
